Newcastle
A YOUNG CITY WITH A STORIED HISTORY
Newcastle is a peaceful, small residential community located between Bellevue, Renton and Issaquah. Before Washington became a state, the city was one of the most successful coal mining towns in northwestern Washington, hence the name of Coal Creek. Residents enjoy nearly 40 acres of developed parks and 11 miles of trails distributed throughout the city. In addition to the city parks are the King County parks which have thousands of acres and many more trails to explore. The Newcastle Golf Club is one of the areas finest courses and has spectacular area views. Also the local Coal Creek YMCA provides year round access to swimming and fitness.
Two local favorites shopping choices are Newcastle Fruit and Produce, a farmers market providing a variety of locally grown and organic fruits and vegetables, seasonal plants and gardening supplies & B&E Meats, a local butcher shop, is found across from the market.
